چکیده

Background Interstitial myocardial fibrosis is a histological hallmark of non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and may play an important role in adverse remodelling and progressive systolic dysfunction. T1-mapping enables noninvasive assessment of diffuse fibrosis by quantification of myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV). We hypothesized that CMR would identify a raised ECV in DCM which would correlate with the degree of systolic dysfunction.

The value of myocardial perfusion imaging in differentiating between idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy from the ischemic form [Persian]

Introduction: Differentiating between ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) and idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM) is important as coronary revascularization can improve prognosis in the ischemic subgroup. Due to inherent problems of coronary angiography in patients with depressed ejection fraction (EF) introducing a noninvasive tool to diagnose those who will benefit from angiography seems...

Right ventricular function in dilated cardiomyopathy and ischemic heart disease: assessment with non-invasive imaging

BACKGROUND Dilated cardiomyopathy and ischaemic heart disease can both lead to right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. Direct comparisons of the two entities regarding RV size and function using state-of-the-art imaging techniques have not yet been performed. We aimed to determine RV function and volume in dilated cardiomyopathy and ischaemic heart disease in relation to left ventricular (LV) systo...

Regional left ventricular myocardial T1 and velocity mapping: elevated extracellular volume fraction is associated with altered myocardial velocities

Background Non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) is a common cause of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction and may be associated with myocardial fibrosis. Global LV systolic function may underestimate the impact of fibrosis on myocardial function and is insensitive to regional abnormalities in myocardial motion. Advances in cardiac MRI have enabled quantification of myocardial fibrosis through the ca...

Right ventricular systolic dysfunction in patients with severe ischemic cardiomyopathy - CMR insights into an interventricular relationship

Background Right ventricular systolic dysfunction is associated with worsened outcomes and poor survival in patients with heart failure. However, it is unclear what mechanisms, other than the presence of RV infarction, contribute to the development of RV dysfunction in patients with severe ischemic cardiomyopathy. We sought to determine the impact of baseline demographic variables, CAD severity...

Parameters of Right Ventricle as etiological distinction between ischemic and non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy

Background Dilated left ventricular volumes (VE) is one of the main factors of poor cardiovascular prognosis with systolic dysfunction. Myocardial fibrosis detected by late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has been recognized in recent years as an independent prognostic factor in dilated cardiomyopathy, in addition to guiding the etiological diagnosis, and most o...
